Is the rock in Masjid Al-Aqsa (the Rock of Beit al-Maqdis) suspended in the air?

What can be seen is that the rock that the Prophet (peace be upon him) ascended from to the heavens on the night of Isra’a is a roof of a cave in the top of the mountain of Haram al-Sharif, which is connected to many sides of the mountain. What it is strange, is that caves are usually found on the sides of mountains, but this one is on top of the mountain!

What is rumored about the sacred rock in Beit al-Maqdis is that it hangs between heaven and earth, and that’s absolutely contradicting the reality of tangible scenes that prove it to be connected to the side of the mountain that it’s part of. It was never mentioned in any of the Prophet’s Hadithes that the rock is hung, and any Hadith that states “its blessings” is a “Hadith Maudhu” that is entirely untrue, as stated by the Muslim scholars.

Nevertheless, the aforementioned information does not diminish the value of the rock and its sanctity as the place of the Prophet’s ascendance to heavens. Besides, it also used to be the Muslims first qiblah, before it was changed to the Kaaba.
